Q?After I load my file, where can I read the information of it, such as "Video Size", Video "Bit Rate", etc.?
A: You can double click the file in the task list or highlight it and click the Advanced button on the main window to open the Advanced Options panel. The information of the original file and the parameter settings for output will be both shown on the panel , for you could conveniently compare the parameter values between the source and the target.
Q?I want to change some settings of conversion. Where can I find them?
A: All the settings can be found on the Advanced Options panel, you can click the Advanced button on the main window to open it. After you highlight the task you want to change settings and change the output Profile to a customable one, the information of the original file and the parameter settings for output will be shown on the Advanced Options panel as a grid, such as the "Frame Rate", "Sample Rate", and "Bit rate" and so on. You can click the parameter items in the Target line and choose the values from the dropdown lists.
Q?It takes over a long time to convert a video file, how to get it faster?
A: Video converting is a time consuming job. It depends on the duration, frame size (resolution), the codec of the source file, and those settings for the result file. If you want it faster, you may set a lower frame size.
Q?How can i find the output file after the conversion?
A: In the task list the folder and the file name of the output file shows in the Destination line. To find the output file conveniently, right click the mouse button on the task and click Open destination directory on the popup menu, the folder contain your output file will be opened. The default destination folder for our program is "C:\VideoConvert".
Q?What about if I convert a file into same format several times saving in the same output folder without setting different output names respectively? Will your program just overwrite the previous conversion? It will be nice if it can save the output files in different titles automatically.
A: Consider this situation , the converter checks the destination folder before convert a file every time, If there is a file has the same name as the output file, it will add a number to the output file's name. For example, if your file is called "movie.3gp" and you want to convert it to AVI format, after the first conversion job, the output file will be named as "movie.avi". If you do the same conversion job again, out program will generate a file, called "movie(1).avi". And also, if you perform a third conversion, the third output file will be "movie(2).avi". And, You can find the final output file name in the Destination line of the task list.
Q?After the conversion is done, I found that the output file is in such a small resolution. All what I used are default settings. I should be able to adjust resolution. And what should I modify?
A: In our program, resolution is called "Frame Size". You can click the Advanced button on the main window to open the Advanced Options panel and find this item on the panel. Different output Profile may have different default values. You can click the parameter items in the Target line and select a value which has been offered in the drop-list. If the item has only one value, you can change another customable profile.
Q?After the conversion is done, I am not satisfied with the quality of output files. How can I improve it by certain settings?
A: Generally speaking, the output quality can be improved by modifying "Video Size" and video "Bit Rate". After you highlight the file in the task list, you will be able to change the profile to a higher quality one. Or you can select a custom profile, and change the "Video Size" and video "Bit Rate" on the Advanced Option panel. But in certain formats or for certain devices there would be some limitations. And also, the output files would be in a larger size if you set larger values for these two items.
Q?After the conversion is done, I found the size of output files were too big. what settings should I modify?
A: The size of the output file mainly hinge on "Video Size" and video "Bit Rate". After you highlight the file in the task list, you will be able to change the profile to a lower quality one. Or you can select the a custom profile, and decrease values of "Video Size" and video "Bit Rate", for the default value may be too high for your source or your usage. Generally speaking, if the output parameter values exceed the values of the source, will not improve the quality of the output, and will only increase the size. So you should try the values appropriate for your sources and devices.
Q?After the conversion to certain audio formats is done, I found that the output audio files always skip. It means there are always some short breaks during playback. How to correct it?
A: Maybe you have set a smaller value for audio bit rate. Please try a larger one for it. Generally speaking, the default value we offered can assure a good result.
Q?I want to convert some VOB files, which I load into the program from the "Video_TS" folder of a standard DVD. But I either get a "Fail" notice or a bad, not complete conversion result. Why?
A: Our software, Video Converter, is just a video conversion tool, so it will not do a good job on DVD conversion. If you can remove the encryption of the DVD by other third-party program, such as DVD Decryptor, our software will be able to convert the decrypted VOB files.
Q?When I convert video, there seems to be a file size limitation of 4 GB per file. How can I change this?
A: Certain file systems have file size limitation. If your HDD is formatted using FAT32 system, you cannot create files larger than 4 GB on it. Normally, Windows XP and 2000 offer to format your HDD using NTFS, but you can also select FAT32, when you install the OS. The only way out of this situation is reformat your HDD using a more up-to-date NTFS file system, or convert video to a HDD which is already using this file system.
Q?I found that video is not in sync with the audio. How to resolve it? Why is this?
A: Unfortunately not all conversions go 100% smoothly and some result in the Audio and Video out of synchronization. This can be due to many reasons with the primary problems being the original movie source and codec clashes. I suggest looking at using an alternative video codec or audio codec.
Q?Could I convert WMV to ASF so that I can stream it with a Windows Media Server?
A: There is no need to convert WMV to ASF. Windows Media Server supports WMV files perfectly. WMV is a more advanced format than ASF, and ASF is a previous version of WMV.
Q?When I watch the output files on my iPod, every certain minutes, the video would freeze for a couple of seconds, and then the audio will disappear when the playback resume. I have to rewind the iPod to get the audio again. Why? It does not happen on iTunes and QuickTime on my computer.
A: Please check the version of the firmware of iPod you're using. If it's V1.1, you would have such problem. Please upgrade it to V1.1.1 released on Mar 23 2006 by Apple. Here is the download link: http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/. After that, the playback will be smooth on your iPod.
Q?After the conversion is done, how can I put the output files into my iPod so that I can enjoy them?
A: First of all, you must download the latest version of iTunes from www.apple.com. And then, you need load the MP4 movie into the Library of the iTunes. You will find it in the Movie list after that. Connect your iPod with your PC via USB cable so that the device will be recognized by iTunes. After that, you can SYNC the movie into iPod following its detail instruction. Actually, the way to import file into iPod is same with the way to import file into iPhone.
Q?How to transfer the output video files to my PSP?
A: Put your converted video files (M4VXXXXX.mp4 and M4VXXXXX.THM) to the folder \MP_ROOT\100MNV01\ in the MemoryStick.
Q?What are the optimized settings to my Zune device so that I can get best Video Quality?
A: Generally speaking, output quality is mainly decided by Frame Size (Resolution) setting and Bit Rate value. For both the WMV and MP4 output profile of our program, we provide several Video Size values: 320x240 up to 720x480. The If you want to get an output files in better quality, please choose a higher value. About Bit Rate setting, the default value provided in our program is 1500Kbps. It should be OK. If you like, a larger bit rate value will also be afforded. Notice, please check the version of the firmware of Zune you're using. The 1st generation (30GB) support 800Kbps average video bit rate ( 1500Kbps peak video bit rate) and 320 x 240 pixels frame size. The 2nd generation (80GB/4GB/8GB) support 2500Kbps peak video bit rate, and 720 x 480 pixels frame size up to 30fps frame rate (or 720x 576 pixels frame size up to 25 fps frame rate.
Q?Your program provides two video formats for Zune, WMV and MP4. Which one is better? I'd like to get fantastic video quality on my Zune.
A: It is hard to say which the better one is. But according to our test, under the same configurations, including same Video Size and Bit Rate, WMV would be a little better. But MP4 would provide a smaller output file size while it keeps sound quality simultaneously.
Q?The output 3GP files are playable well by QuickTime on my PC. But when I load the files into my phone and play them, the video and audio get out of sync. Why?
A: Maybe your phone requires different settings with the default value , which can work for most of phones. You may get to know what proper settings for frame rate, as well as some others your phone can support, and convert files using valid settings. If you still get problem with it, please e-mail to our support team at firstname.lastname@example.org and they will help you out.
Q?The default setting for "Frame Size" of 3GP output in your program is 176x144, but I want to get a larger one, such as 320x240. But I can't find the value in the Frame Size dropdown list. Why?
A: In this condition, you must also modify "Video Codec" setting. The default one is h.263, which can only support 128x96, 176x144, 352x288, 704x576, and 1408x1152. If you do want a different frame size such as 320x240, please select "h.263+" as video codec, which has no limitation on frame size setting. But you must be sure that your phone can support such a configuration include the codec.
Q?I want to play the video on my device for TV out, which setting should I choose? What are NTSC and PAL?
A: The television standards differ in different countries. So your television set support only one of the standards. If you do not know what standard is supported by the television sets and DVD players in your country, see the table below:
