How to convert AVI to Flash(SWF and FLV) on Mac OS X

  • Download VideoFlash Converter for Mac.
  • Run the VideoFlashconverter.dmg file from the desktop, or download location.
  • In the VideoFlash Converter window run the “install.app” file.
  • Follow the prompts to complete the install.

That’s it. VideoFlash Converter is installed. You may delete the VideoFlashconverter.dmg file from your desktop or download location.

Starting VideoFlash Converter for Mac

The default settings in VideoFlash Converter are the recommended settings, most adjustments are optional.

Converting a Video format movie to Flash SWF or FLV. Upon startup, the main window opens.

  • Select the file to convert. Click the button next to the “Input File” field and browse to the video file to convert.Note: VideoFlash Converter will convert the following video formats to flash format: MOV, AVI, WMV, MPG, MPEG, ASF, and DivX
  • Name the Output file. Click the button next to the “Output File” field. In the “Save As” field type a name for the output file and in the “Where” field select a location to save.Note: The format of your output file, FLV or SWF, will automatically update when you select your Format Settings in the steps below.
  • Create HTML File, if necessary. Check the “Create HTML File” check box then select the options for the video behavior within the HTML file: Auto Start Player – this will automatically start the video when the web page containing the HTML file is opened in a browser. Repeat Play – this will play the video on a continuous loop on the web page containing the HTML file.
  • Recalc Video Bitrate. To adjust the output file size and quality select from the drop down choices.

Format Settings. Click the “Format Settings” button to open the “Select Codec Parameters” window. Here you can make several adjustments to the output file.

  • Resolution: Select height and width parameters for the output video. Checking the “Proportional” box will maintain the height to width ratio of the original movie.
  • Video Quality Settings: Modify the quality, bitrate and FPS (frames per second) by adjusting the sliders.
  • Audio Settings: Check the box labeled “Enabled” if you want the output video to have audio. Unchecking this box removes audio from the output video.
  • Adjust Audio settings. Using the drop down choices modify the Samples per second and/or bitrate for the audio quality. Select the “Stereo” checkbox for stereo audio.
  • Select Output format. Select either SWF format or FLV format for your output flash video.
  • Click “OK” in the “Select Codec Parameters” dialog box.
  • Crop the video. The preview window shows the first frame of your video file and a crop box. Drag and resize the crop window to adjust the area you wish to capture for the output file.
  • Adjust the length of the movie. You may use the slider bar under the preview window to adjust the start and stop location of your output flash video. Use this window to preview your movie frame by frame.

  • Start Conversion. When you have made all your adjustments and settings, select the “Start Conversion” button. A progress window will open showing the status of the conversion.
  • Preview your movie. Once finished a “Conversion Complete” window will open. Click “Yes” to immediately open your new Flash video.Note: If you had selected to create an HTML file it can be found in the Output file location as well as your FLV or SWF file.

Done!
You have successfully converted a video file to flash format.
