Have you ever got iPhone water damage? Since iPhone is so portable, we always carry it wherever we go. Unfortunately, my iPhone 5 fell in my bath when I’m taking a bath. Oops. After that, it couldn’t turn on. I finally find several methods to fix water damaged iPhone, but some of my data lost.
Part 1: Check Whether Your iPhone Is Water Damaged or Not
Couldn’t figure out whether your iPhone is really water damaged? When you are not sure about that, you can check it on your own – by checking your iPhone’s liquid indicators referred to the chart below. When your iPhone has been exposed to water, there’s a red dot on it. If not, your iPhone is not water damaged.
Note: Remember to turn off your iPhone when you want to check the liquid indicators on your iPhone.
Part 2: iPhone Water Damage Repair
Step 1. Power off your iPhone at once
When you got water damaged iPhone, don’t use it in the usual way. Otherwise, your iPhone might be overheated and damaged. Get your iPhone away from water and power it off immediately.
Step 2. Don’t dry your iPhone with a hair dryer
Never try to dry your water damaged iPhone with a hair dryer or other external drying machine, because it will force water to move deeper inside your iPhone. You can lay it among the rice for several days to dry it. It’s feasible for you to take your water damaged iPhone to the repair store.
It’s very important for you to back up your iPhone when your iPhone is dried. You can backup them with iTunes, iCloud or iPhone Data Recovery.
Backup your iPhone via iTunes: Connect your iPhone and run iTunes. Then right click on your iPhone’s name and choose “Backup“. iTunes can back up your iPhone in a few minutes.
